Joanna Gayle Hootnick

With over two decades working in philanthropy, Joanna Gayle Hootnick has expertise in transformational giving, communications, and relationship management. She has overseen strategy for two campaigns totaling $6B at Columbia University and the University of Denver. Her experience includes roles at Columbia's law and business schools, the president's office during the tenure of Lee Bollinger, and at NYU in major gifts. She also served as a principal gifts officer at Teach For America.


Joanna earned her BA at Harvard College, an MA and MEd at Columbia University's Teachers College and an MBA at NYU's Stern School of Business with a 4.0 in finance. Joanna is co-chair of her college class's participation fundraising committee and volunteers as an alumni interviewer. She is also co-chair of the Denver chapter of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs and involved with fundraising for the International School of Denver. In her spare time she enjoys skiing, running, comedy, reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog.
